Thames Valley Fire & Rescue Service was established in April 2002 by Jim McMahon an Emergency Medical Technician with an aptitude for Fire Prevention work and Sid Bailey a business man of 20 years standing. As things progressed through the years, Jim with the help of others set up and formed TVFRS which is a sister company to Thames Valley Ambulance & Paramedic Service.

With a will to succeed and where finances allowed, Jim with the help of Sid, bought his first Fire Appliance and set about kitting it with the necessary equipment that would allow him to prepare for his journey to becoming a fully fledged AEMT/firefighter.

After many hair pulling moments (and they had a fair few) their wishes and aspirations became reality when the fire appliance was fully kitted and they now had several serving and former county firefighters on their team. Training began in earnest and a lot of training was required. (see the training section for full details.)

Many months later having succeeded in their training Jim, Sid and the crews of Thames Valley Fire & Rescue Service now have an established training schedule, many satisfied customers and clients and a fully fledged team of firefighters that can cope with any incident that they are asked to deal with, just like their whole time and retained county colleagues anywhere in the UK.
